Battle Creek VA Announces New Director

Congratulations Ms. Martin on appointment to Medical Center Director

The Department of Veterans Affairs is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Martin as the new director of the Battle Creek VA Medical Center (VAMC), effective September 13, 2020. Martin has served as acting Director since March, leading the medical center through the COVID-19 global pandemic. She has previously served as Battle Creek’s Associate Director for Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive.
“We are excited to officially name Michelle Martin as the new director of the Battle Creek VAMC,” said RimaAnn Nelson, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 10 Director. “Michelle has a proven track record of success at VA Medical Centers throughout this region – including right here in Battle Creek. Her sound leadership qualities and proven experience will be valuable assets to the Battle Creek VAMC’s employees, volunteers, and -- most importantly -- to the Veterans we are honored to serve.” Martin first joined the VA family in 2012 at the Northern Indiana Health Care System in Fort Wayne as a Facility Telehealth Coordinator/Nurse Manager. She has also served as Northern Indiana’s Chief Nurse for Operations. In total, Martin has more than 25 years of experience in nursing, nursing leadership, and quality management positions. Martin earned her Master’s in Business Administration with a specialization in Health Care Management and Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University.
