The Prevention of Amputation in Veterans Everywhere (PAVE) program provides a model of care for patients who are 'at-risk' for limb loss and for those who have already undergone amputation and are at risk for further limb loss.

Participating Veterans are scheduled for routine screening assessments- to assess risk factors and reduce the risk of future limb loss.

Additionally, Veterans are provided with education and tools to assist with their own foot care.

Veterans at highest risk include those with diagnoses such as:

  • diabetes
  • neuropathy
  • peripheral vascular disease (PVD)
  • end-stage renal disease (ESRD)
  • history of foot ulceration
  • previous amputation
  • sensory neuropathy of the lower extremity

Referrals to the PAVE program can be submitted by Primary Care Providers (PCP), Podiatry or Rehab Physicians. PAVE Assessments can be completed at the Battle Creek VAMC or in the Wyoming Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC).
