PTSD Clinical Team

The PTSD Clinical Team (PCT) provides specialized PTSD treatment services located at the Battle Creek VAMC, or an episode of video-based PTSD treatment to Veterans throughout the Battle Creek catchment area. In addition to serving Veterans with combat PTSD, the PCT offers an episode of evidence-based psychotherapy to Veterans with non-combat PTSD, either in person or virtually (video-based), after which the Veteran will return to the care of the referring provider if additional treatment is appropriate. Group psychotherapy and medication management are also offered in the PCT.

PTSD Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program

The PTSD virtual intensive outpatient program (PTSD vIOP) offers time-limited, video-based, intensive outpatient PTSD treatment for Veterans in need of intensive outpatient PTSD treatment. This level of care is appropriate for Veterans who need more intensive treatment than an outpatient level of care, but who do not need the structure or support of a residential program.

The virtual IOP includes individual, evidence-based psychotherapy for PTSD (individual sessions are typically twice per week) and participating in 4 hours of groups per week. Veterans and their providers discuss which evidence-based treatment is right for the Veteran. Treatment duration is approximately 6-7 weeks. Following the episode of Virtual IOP, the Veteran will return to the care of the referring provider. Groups for Substance Use Disorder can be coordinated as a part of the PTSD virtual IOP. Please see the below links for more information on the PTSD vIOP, as well as links for more information on evidence-based treatments for PTSD.
